VAT Registered Customers [EU]

Since the UK left the European Union the information relating to this has changed and needs to be updated as the new trade relationship and rules have been clearer.

If your company (or employer) is registered for VAT within the European Union (EU) and is located outside the UK, you will be able to place orders without being charged for VAT when using our cart system. If you wish to place an order while taking advantage of zero rated cross border VAT you must comply with the relevant UK and EU laws and:

  1. Have the permission of the relevant finance officer/department in your company before registering and/or placing an order
  2. Use your companies VAT registered address for the shipping address

Assuming the above are true you will need to:

  1. Register a store account on octoink.co.uk. (Guest checkout will not accept zero-rated VAT orders)
Ensure you input your information so that it matches your VAT registration:
    1. Name/Company Name
    2. Full VAT number including the country prefix (eg: FR123456789 )
    3. Company address & contact details
  2. The store software is configured to verify the information you provide against a validation service and will not accept invalid information. If you find your details are not being accepted, please contact support for help.

  3. Once validated, login to your account and place an order as normal. You should see that the ex-VAT price is now being displayed on product pages and during checkout.

Please note:

  • Orders and VAT registration details are checked manually before dispatch.
  • We will not change the shipping address to an alternative address without signed authorisation, on company letterhead, from an appropriate officer in your company.
  • Any discrepancies will need to be corrected before anything can be sent.
  • Failure to meet the above may result in accounts and/or orders being cancelled so please ensure the information is accurate before registering and/or ordering.
  • Any attempt to use false information, abuse a companies VAT status for personal benefit, and/or engage in VAT fraud will be reported to the relevant authorities.
