Video :: Bottom-Fill Priming technique for Epson refillable cartridges

Posted on 18th Jul 2015 @ 10:38:36 PM

The new Epson T27 refillable cartridge has a slightly different design that makes vacuum priming less ideal as the vent areas will also tend to fill up which could cause problems later on so we came up with another way to prime Epson refillables using a bottom-fill technique that puts ink into the cartridge via the outlet port.

Note: This approach means that the ink needs to be reasonably new and one you're confident does not contain algae or "junk" that might clog up your printhead. The reason for this is that normally the ink would pass through a filter when top-filled but because you're injected via the outlet any "junk" would be on the wrong side of the filter. It's a technical point but worth noting in case anyone uses and comes unstuck as a result.

Media not computed.

This technique is applicable to most other Epson refillable cartridges of similar design as well so may well be useful...
